Top Tips on how to prepare for a Piano Recital!

1. Make sure you have practiced your piece and know it really well! This will give you the best chance possible of being able to do a great job on the day and to enjoy the music.

2. Arrive at the concert on time and give yourself time to get settled. You don't want to be feeling nervous and rushed when you should really be concentrating on being calm.

3. Sip water as you are waiting for your turn to perform to keep yourself hydrated and calm. This will also stop you becoming light headed as the adrenaline kicks in.

4. Think about your breathing. Take deep, calm, slow breathes to try and keep your heart rate steady. Breathe in though your nose and out through your mouth to control your breathIng most effectively.

5. Wear something special that makes you feel great, and make sure that you are comfortable. Practise sitting at the piano in your clothes (and shoes!) so that you know what it will feel like on the day.

6. Before you start to play, tell yourself that you are great, and that you have prepared really well. Positive mental attitude counts for so much when you are performing!

7. Take your time before you start playing! When you are called to perform, sit down, get comfortable, find your place on the piano, take a deep breath, remind yourself you are fab, smile- and then begin!

8. Last of all- enjoy yourself! You have been working towards this moment for weeks and possibly months, you deserve to enjoy every second!
