It's Target week at Music with Miri!

Two weeks ago we had our wonderful Winter Concerts, where all of our piano pupils had the opportunity to perform to an enthusiastic and supportive audience. We had been working hard to perfect our pieces so that they were 'concert ready', and everyone really rose to the occasion. The pupils all gave such confident performances, nerves were overcome, music was shared, and the joy on their faces when they realised they had achieved so much was truly a pleasure to see.

Now we are about to embark on a new term, a long term, and it's important to start by thinking about where we want to be in 3 months time. What skills do we want to work on? What do we want to have achieved by the end of the term? If you don't take the time to sit back and think about where you are going, you won't be making the most of the time you have to get there.

When you learn an instrument one of the hardest things is to stay excited and motivated through the challenging times. When you come up against a difficult piece, a difficult phrase, or even just a difficult bar, you need to work twice as hard as normal to get over that hump. Having an idea of the end point, of the goal, knowing where you are going can really help you to keep focused and motivated.

So this week, we are starting all of our lessons by reflecting on wether we have achieved the targets we set in September, and setting new targets for the coming term. Imaging what could be in just 3 months time is so exciting and I can't wait to accompany these young people on their journey to fulfil

their potential.
