Why does anyone need singing lessons?

Everyone can sing! So why would you need to pay for singing lessons? Here are my top 5 things you will learn in a singing lesson that will make you a better singer:

1. Good breathing technique: The basis of all good singing is good breathe control. You need to develop muscle strength and control of your breathing apparatus just like a swimmer or a runner so that you can build up stamina to sing for longer periods of time and without putting any strain on your vocal

chords.

2. Good vocal technique: Everyone can sing, but knowing how you are producing the sound and learning to produce new sounds in different ways opens up so many doors for a singer. It is very empowering to be able to make a variety of vocal choices and not be limited to what happens to come out of your mouth.

3. Healthy singing routines: So many of today's singers are not modeling good vocal technique and our young people are copying this in their 'natural' singing styles. Vocal health is a serious business for a singer, and through singing lessons you will learn to sing in a sustainable way and avoid vocal injury.

4. Expansion of range: Everyone that comes for their first singing lesson will have a pre conceived notion about how high and low they can sing. One of the things we see develop over a number of lessons is that these borders bend and often break beyond one's expectations. There is so much more voice in there just waiting to get out!

5. Exposure to new repertoire: Everyone loves to sing the music they love to listen to, but in your singing lessons you will undoubtedly be challenged to explore new genres and through this a love for new styles of music, both as a listener and a performer.
